FAQ

 Frequently Asked Questions

Do you tether?

Yes I usually use an iPad, that is tethered to my camera, meaning you can see what is being captured by the camera, live on a bigger screen, so the styling can be tweaked, and other changes can be made to the compositions, the we possibly wouldn’t see/notice on the small camera screen. I do also have a laptop, laptop stand set up for teetering too, which is generally used when working with a big team in a studio setting. But the iPad works well for most shoots, as it’s so easy to carry around a home, and not awkward like the lap top can be. The perks of the lap top and is being able to edit on the shoot, to show clients closer to what the photo will look like in the end.

What else is included in your pricing?

I won’t just turn up with a camera and a few lenses, I am equip with a full lighting kit, many many backdrops, reflectors, diffusers, v-flats, gimbal, microphones etc … and of course the knowledge of using it all correctly and to it’s best advantage for each shoot. No need to hire a studio, and all the gear … I have it all.

Do you style?

Yes, I come from a background in interior design, with a diploma in commercial arts … and spent the first half of my career very focused on photo styling … which slowly turned into more photography then styling … so now I can do both, and have the ability to source props specific for your shoot … or bring bucket loads of props to your shoot from my own personal collection.

How are my photos delivered?

Depending on the style of shoot, I will do the first half of my editing work to all of the photos and then load the photos into Pixie Set (a similar online tool to Dropbox but way better!) I will email a link to you, from there you will be able to browse all of the photos (unfinished), using the ‘hearts’ you will be able to create a favourites list that will automatically be sent to me, I will edit in complete the photos that you choose, with in 2-3 weeks of the shoot day, the finished photos will be loaded into Pixie Set for you where you can easily download the files (in high res and web res) to your own devices (this is when I would highly recommend backing up the files on a separate hard drive, USB, load into your own drop box folders or google drive etc … it would be best to save them on both your computer and phone, so that you have the photos easily accessible on your phone to post to social media. The files will be available to download (through Pixie Set) for one month only.

When do you want payment for the shoot?

I will send you an invoice for the full amount of the shoot and photos purchased when I send the completed edited photos to you and you then have 2 weeks to pay the invoice in complete via bank transfer.

I’ve lost my photos, can you send them to me again?

I will keep the files safe for 12 months only, a re-delivery fee will be charged if accidental loss or destruction of the photos by the Client after delivery occurs.

Can I send these photos to other businesses to use?

When you purchase a shoot and photos, you are paying for one license, for your business only to use the photos, other businesses can get in contact with me to purchase a license to use the photos if they would like. (and if you are happy for me to on-sell the photos) Please don’t hesitate to ask if you would like more information regarding this. Sharing around on social media can get tricky, but whatever you are comfortable with, and is good for your business, is good for me.

We are two businesses, wanting to share the cost of a shoot?

Yes! this is definitely possible, if there are two or more businesses (for example a renovation project, the tiler and the bench top maker both want photos of the finished home) you can organise the shoot together, and I will give you 2 licences etc to use the photos. But this does need to be worked out before the day of the shoot, and all briefs, shot lists from both businesses need to be clear before the shoot.

Can you also style the space? Can you bring props?

Of course! coming from an interior design background, and having years of experience in photo styling, my clients usually want me doing the styling as well as the photography. This all needs to be discussed ahead of the shoot, if a scout of the shoot location isn’t possible ahead of the shoot, simple iPhone photos of the space would be highly recommended so I can make sure I am brining the right style of props and I’ve allowed enough time to style the space before photographing it. I have an in-house prop collection available for hire for shoots (+$150) or if a specific look is needed, of course I can source the right pieces for your job for an added cost.

When will I receive my photos?

Generally I work off a 2-3 week turn around … but if you are in need of the photos with in 48 hours, please just make me aware of this at least 2 weeks before the shoot day, so that I can schedule my week with enough time to get the editing work of your shoot done as quickly as possible.

I am a homewares/furniture creative, can you scout a location?

Yes as I am talking to lots of different people in the industry all the time, I often have access to a lot of different locations, please always ask if you are in need of a location for your shoot.

I am a creative of a small product, where would you shoot my product?

For smaller products, finishes, beauty products, food products etc … I have a home photography studio I usually use for smaller products, this way I have everything I need already there, backdrops, lighting, props and to be able to use beautiful natural light as well (knowing where it hits at what time of day well). Rather then you having to hire out a photography studio. You are welcome to work with me on your shoot, in my home photography studio.
